Thai PM to attend BIMSTEC summit in India

Bangkok, Nov 12: Thai Prime minister Somchai Wongsawat will meet his Indian counterpart Dr Manmohan Singh on Thursday, Nov 13 during his visit to New Delhi to attend the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) Summit.

Mr Somchai leaves on Wednesday, Nov 12 evening for the Indian capital to take part in the second BIMSTEC Summit, his office announced. Mr Somchai will also hold a bilateral meeting with Nepalese Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal(Prachanda) and will later join the other BIMSTEC leaders in a courtesy call on President Pratibha Patil. The Thai prime minister will also meet representatives of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).

Set up in June 1997, BIMSTEC groups Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Thailand.
