Max Muller Bhavan to launch its first Kerala centre
Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 12 (UNI) Aimed at promoting German language, bilateral business relations and cultural exchange opportunities, the Max Muller Bhavan will be opening its first centre in Kerala here.
Governor R S Gavai will inaugurate the Bhavan on Novermber 28, Max Muller Bhavan Board of Governors President G Vijayaraghavan said here today.
Consul-General of the Federal Republic of Germany Stefan Graf will be the guest of honour.
Kerala had been chosen as a centre considering the state's importance as one of the most favoured tourism and IT destinations in India and because of the large number of German-speaking tourists visiting the state, he said.
Mr Vijayaraghavan said a 19-member delegation led by the Consul- General would hold discussions with the state government on probable areas of bilateral cooperation, business opportunities and industrial investments.
As a curtain raiser to the opening of the centre, various programmes would be organised. Persons who had studied in Germany would be honoured on November 21, which would be followed by a performance by German rock groups 'Nulltarif.' Apart from this, painting and quiz competitions would be held for school and college students.
The Goethre-Zentrum Max Muller Bhavan is a worldwide organisation under the German Foreign Office with 144 institutes in 80 countries.
