HC ask state, MNS to submit Raj anticipatory bail records
Mumbai, Nov 12 (UNI) The Bombay High Court today asked the state government and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray to submit the chronological records of anticipatory bail granted to the MNS chief by the Sessions Court at Kalyan in a case of destruction of property at Dombivli in neighbouring Thane district.
Justice V K Tahilramani, who was hearing the state plea challenging the bail granted and to cancel the same, directed for submission of the records till November 25.
The state has challenged the interim relief granted to Mr Thackeray on his anticipatory bail application, claiming it to be ''illegal'', as Raj's custody was transferred to Kalyan railway police.
''Once Raj's custody has been transferred to the railway police in another case, the Sessions court cannot grant him relief in that matter. The relief should have been granted by the Kalyan railway court,'' the state advocate general Ravi Kadam argued before the court in its plea.
Opposing the plea, advocate Rajendar Shirodkar, appearing on behalf of Raj Thackeray, said that session court had rightly granted the bail as it had the power to do so.
