Electoral rolls to be ready by January: Official
Hyderabad, Nov 12 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer I V Subba Rao today said the final elecltoral rolls in the state would be ready by January 10.
Talking to newspersons here after participating in the launch of a website aimed at empowering the people with informaton about the candidates contesting elections, he said the Elector's Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) would be distributed from next month.
He said the state election office was ready for elections any time after January 10 as the voters list would be ready by that time.
He said for the first time in the state, enumeration of voters would be made in 216 post offices in the city and would be extended to other post offices in a phased manner.
He said 2000 drop boxes were set up at important places and Government offices to enable the people to drop their application forms with photos for enumeration.
He said the Form-six would be available at various places, including ration shops in the state for the convenience of the people.
Underlining the need for making public disclosures made by the candidates on election expenditure and comments of the election officials, he said the website was very flexible and useful for the people to use.
Stating that the website was a step in the right direction as it would help voters to make an informed choice, he said the launch of the website was very timely as it came in the run up to the elections to the Lok Sabha and Assembly in the State.
