Chennai, Nov 12 (UNI) Three students were seriously injured in a clash between two groups of students at the Government Ambedkar Law college in the city today.

What was bizarre was that the clash took place in front a posse of police personnel who were posted in front of the college gate.

Live TV footages showed that a group of students were beating up a hapless student black and blue, using wooden logs right in front of the police personnel, who made no attempt to prevent it.

Police sources said the groups fought a pitched and bloody battle inside the college premises using wooden logs, sickles and other missiles freely. Huge stones were also hurled against some of the students.

Both the groups chased each other, went round the complex exchanging blows. One student was severely beaten up with logs as he fell flat on the ground near the college gate. Two others also sustained cut injuries.

The three seriously injured were rushed to Government general hospital where they were admitted to the ICU.

Police believe that internal feud between the groups was stated to be the reason behind the clash.

It was a retaliatory attack as the group, returning from exams, which was targeted today, was allegedly involved in the attack on the rival group recently.
