Congress accepts Alva's resignation
New Delhi, Nov 12 (UNI) The Congress today accepted the resignation of its beleaguered leader Margaret Alva as AICC General Secretary.
She has also been dropped from the Congress Working Committee and party's Central Election Committee.
''Her resignation has been accepted,'' Congress spokesperson Jayanthi Natarajan said.
She said, ''Ms Alva was not shown the door. She has resigned on her own.'' Ms Alva had yesterday submitted her resignation to Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
Ms Alva had recently alleged nepotism in the party and sale of party tickets in the recent Karnataka elections. Her issue was referred to the party's Disciplinary Action Committee.
On the allegations made by Ms Alva, the Congress spokesperson said there was no question of probing such baseless allegations.
