Central intelligence warns UP DGP security

Lucknow, Nov 12 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Vikram Singh and his family members are on the target of some criminals presently lodged in jail, a central intelligence input has revealed.

The input from a central intelligence agency sent to Mr Singh recently about threat on his life as well as members of his family said '' It is learnt that some criminal elements in jail are believed to be plotting to target UP DGP Vikram Singh and have also discussed targeting his family members.'' The faxed letter has suggested review and stregthening of the security of Mr Singh and his family members.

The state police has, meanwhile, taken serious cognizance of the contents of the letter and the security of the UP DGP and his family members is under review.

'' We are aware of the threat and have stregthened the security in whichever manner it was deemed to be adequate,'' Mr Brij Lal, the Additional Director General of Police (ADG), law and order, UP told UNI here today. He, however, refused to divulge more about the efforts of the state government in identifying the criminals, who could be plotting to target the DGP.

On the other hand, the security and intelligence departments of UP police have been alerted accordingly in this regard.
