Orders on Sixth pay commission issued

Puducherry, Nov 10 (UNI) The Puducherry administration today issued orders for implementation of the sixth pay commission recommendations to the municipality and commune panchayat employees, Local Administration Minister A Namasivayam said.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr Namasivayam said the recommendations would be implemented with retrospective effect from January 1,2006, benefitting more than 2,000 employees.

The administration would incur an additional expenditure of Rs 13.37 crore towards arrears, he said adding an additional expenditure of Rs 9.42 crore would be incurred for the provision of enhanced salary to the municipal employees and Rs 2.89 crore for the commune panchayat employees.

The recommendations would be implemented with effect from the salary of November, he added.

He said the administration was considering to levy taxes in a manner which would not affect the people to generate revenue for local bodies.
