KMC exempts newsprint, vegetables, jaggery from cess duty

Kolhapur, Nov 10 (UNI) The Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC) today, at its general body meeting, adopted a resolution exempting newsprint, vegetables and jaggery from cess duty collection.

A resolution to this effect, moved by ruling group whip, Ajit Raut and seconded by opposition leader Madhukar Ramane, was passed by the house.

Traders of various organisation had undertaken agitation here to oppose cess duty imposed by the state government, abolishing octroi of ''D'' category, municipal corporation with effect from November 1.
