IG severely hurt in encounter
Raipur, Nov 10 (UNI) An Inspector-General of Police sustained a severe gunshot wound during an encounter with Naxals today in Chhattisgarh's Balrampur police district.
Confirming this to UNI, Director-General of Police Vishwaranjan said, ''Rebels ambushed and opened fire when Surguja IG B S Marawi was returning after taking part in a search at the site of an afternoon encounter. He was rushed for first aid to Balrampur and will be conveyed to Ambikapur tonight. As Ambikapur does not have a night-landing facility, the officer will be flown out in the morning.'' The encounter was still underway and additional personnel were being rushed there. The first encounter, which took place in Balrampur police district's Ramchandrapur Police Station limits, led to the death of two Maoists.
