Hooda lays foundation of Apparel Training and Design Centre
Chandigarh, Nov 10 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today urged the Apparel Export Promotion Council to set up a full fledged school at IMT Rohtak having educational and training facilities.
Mr Hooda was addressing a gathering after laying the foundation stone of Apparel Training and Design Centre and Institute of Management at Gurgaon.
He assured the council for providing 20 acres of land for setting up of the the Apparel Training and Design Centre during the expansion of IMT Manesar.
Mr Hooda said IMT Manesar would soon have three more sister townships in Rohtak, Faridabad and Kharkhoda.
The Chief Minister said Haryana had ranked on the top among the states in per capita investment (Rs 78500). The state, which was on the 14th position in about three and a half years ago, had achieved marvellous progress.
He said that Panipat was known internationally for its handloom industry and Gurgaon had taken the lead and emerged as a centre of Apparel industry.
He said that more than 6000 garment and textile units were operating from Haryana, employing more than 1.20 lakh persons.
Haryana, he said, was credited with about one fifth of the total textile exports from the country. The state housed some of the best textile units of the country manufacturing apparel, processing and spinning and exporting to the international brands.
