Govt committed to Journalists welfare: Minister
Hyderabad, Nov 10 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Minister for Information and Public Relations, Anam Ramnarayana Reddy today said the State Government was committed to the welfare of journalists and their families.
Talking to newspersons after distributing identify cards of group mediclaim to working journalists at a function here, he said the Government was implementing various welfare schemes to all sections of people, including journalists.
The minister said the journalists and their families were getting benefits from the mediclaim being implemented by the State Sovernment from 2004 and Rs 2.53 crore had been paid to the insurance companies towards premium from the inception.
The government was paying an amount of Rs 1,178 for each journalist towards insurance premium while the beneficiary was paying Rs 771 every year, he said adding 6,183 working journalists were covered by the scheme during 2008-09.
