Compensation for widow of crocodile victim
Kendrapada, Nov 10 (UNI) After running from pillar to post the widow of Bidyadhar, who was killed by an estuarine crocodile, received a compensation of Rs one lakh from the forest department.
A big estuarine crocodile had attacked Bidyadhar Rout and injured him critically on May 4 when he was taking bath at Baitarani river.
The critically injured Bidyadhar was admitted to SCB medical college and hospital at Cuttack where he succumbed to his injuries on May 9.
Later, the spouse of the deceased-- Tilotama Rout lodged an FIR with the Rajkanika police station and brought the incident to the notice of the Divisional Forest Office of Rajnagar.
It was only on Friday last that the State Forest Department provided the compensation amount under Wild life Protection Act,1972 after verifying the relevant documents produced by the widow.
