Hyderabad, Nov 10 (UNI) Expecting general elections in April 2009, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today asked his cabinet colleagues to gear up for the polls.
In a post-cabinet briefing, Information Minister A Ramanarayana Reddy told reporters that Dr Reddy had asked other ministers to inform the public about the strenuous efforts being made by the Congress Government for the overall development of the state.
The chief minister wanted his cabinet colleagues to take active part in the party programmes to propagate the achievements of the state government and also the party-led United Progressive Alliance Government at the Centre, Mr Reddy said.
Replying to a question, the minister said the Cabinet did not discuss the murder of Moddu Sreenu, main accused in the murder of TDP leader Paritala Ravindra.
''The murder of a criminal in jail does not merit any discussion in the cabinet. The Home Minister will take required governmental action in this regard,'' he added.
