Punjab enhances allowance of blind students
Chandigarh, Nov 9 (UNI) The Punjab Government has enhanced the allowance for visually handicapped children of Jamalpur Blind School, Ludhianan from Rs 600 to Rs 1200 per child per month.
Disclosing this here today Social Security and Welfare of Women and Child Development Minister Swarna Ram said that a Rs 40 lakh Braille press, library and digital studio had been setup in the institute for the welfare of blind students.
Re-iterating his commitment to ensure the welfare of blind students the Minister informed that a team of senior officers was being deputed to visit the institute for blind in Dehradun to study their setup so it could be replicated in such institutes in the State.
