Assamese labourer held for Guwahati blasts

Kochi, Nov 9: An Assamese migrant labourer, working in a brick kiln at Perumbavoor, near here, is being grilled by intelligence agencies and Kerala police in connection with the Thursday, Oct 30 serial blasts in Guwahati, in which over 60 people were killed. Police source said that Muhammad Saibul Ishra, 25, had been picked up by intelligence agencies and the Perumbavoor police today after the anti-terrorist squad traced his phone calls.

In some phone calls made to Assam just before the blasts, Ishra had allegedly threatened that blasts are going to take place in Guwahati.

On being questioned about these calls, Ishra had allegedly given contradictory statements, police said.

Twelve other migrant labourers working in the Perumbavoor area were being kept under surveillance, police said.
