AP drops Coastal Corridor Project
Vijayawada, Nov 9 (UNI) Succumbing to mounting pressure from political parties the Andhra Pradesh government had dropped the ambitious 'Coastal Corridor Project' and withdrawn the order issued in February last year, State Information and Public Relations Minister A Ramanarayan Reddy said today.
Talking to newspersons here after participating in the golden jubilee celeberation of the Andhra Pradesh Union of working journalists, he said the opposition parties were opposing the project in bid to politicise the issue and create doubts in the minds of people living in the coastal villages.
Mr Reddy said the Congress government had taken up the project with an aim to build proper roads along the 960-km coastline from Ichapuram to Tada, besides improving the coastal districts by constructing sea ports, industries and power plants.
