Thackeray attends GRP police station in Kalyan
Mumbai, Nov 8 (UNI) In compliance with the court order, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) president Raj Thackeray today appeared before the Government Railway Police (GRP) officials for investigation in a riot and assault case registered against him there. While granting interim relief earlier, the Metropolitan Magistrate had directed Thackeray to cooperate with the investigating agency and remain present at the police station as and when required.
MNS officebearer Sandeep Deshpande said here that the GRP had sent a summons to Thackeray, asking him to remain present at the GRP office today at 1100 hrs.
Accordingly, he had appeared before the investigating officer and came back home after two hours, he added.
Railway Police have registered the case against him for the alleged rampage and assault by his party activists on North Indian candidates at the station. They had come to appear for the Railway Board Examination on October 19.
More than 55 cases have been registered against Thackeray across the state under verious sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) including assault, giving provoking speeches or interview to mediapersons and threatening people.
