Govt contractors threatens to stop construction works
Kozhikode, Nov 8 (UNI) The Kerala Government Contractors' Federation today decided to stop construction works in Kozhikode if the district administration failed to release outstanding arrears worth Rs five crore from December 2008.
Talking to newspersons here, Federation Vice-President P Nagaratnan said they were compelled to take the decision as the authorities did not release the payment to about 40 contractors despite repeated reminders by the organisation during the last couple of months.
They had rejected about 50 tenders for different construction works worth Rs 12.5 million in various parts of the district as a first step of their protest against non-payment, he added.
