First Mediation and conciliation centre launched
Jalandhar, Nov 8 (UNI) The first mediation and conciliation centre in the state was today inaugurated in District Court Complex here by Supreme Court judge S B Sinha, through Tele-conferencing.
District and Sessions Judge cum Chairman District Services Authourity Gurdev Singh, said that it would be a cost-effective, and speedy way to solve civil suits.
It would take up all the cases to be referred by the Presiding officers and would have no appeal.
"This will be the free court assisted mediation. Two judicial officers have been imparted training in mediation process by Punjab and Haryana High Court, who would hold mediation sessions" Mr Singh said.
''Mediation is becoming very popular means of alternative disputes resolution as the work load on the courts has increased tremendously and lot of time is consumed in solving disputes through regular court procedure" he said revealing that in USA in some of the states, more than 90 per cent of cases were being settled through the process of mediation.
