Dhumal urges Centre to connect Sirmour with railway network
Sirmour, Nov 8 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh Government would request the Centre to connect Sirmour district with railway network.
Addressing the media persons at Renuka today, the Chief Minister said that the Railway Ministry would be requested to construct a railway line from Ambala-Kala Amb-Poanta Sahib-Dehradun with a view to increase the connectivity to facilitate the tourists and industrialists in the area.
The Chief Minister, who was here to inaugurate the state-level Renuka Fair, said that the state government was according top priority for providing connectivity to various villages in district Sirmour.
"It was during the earlier BJP tenure that the district was connected with National Highway for the first time and for the second time during the present tenure, another National Highway through Poanta Sahib-Shilai connecting Hatkoti, in district Shimla had been got sanctioned," he said.
The Chief Minister further said that Rs 2064 crore were likely to be spent on construction of 40 MW Renuka Hydel Project, which would supply drinking water to Delhi. He said that a provision of Rs. 200 crore had already been made to start the construction.
He added that interests of oustees would be protected at all costs by providing them an attractive relief and rehabilitation package.
He said that State Government would also be making efforts to permit some higher learning institutions to set up their centres in the district.
