BAU eyes producing 3,300 qt high-quality seeds in 2009-10
Ranchi, Nov 8 (UNI) The Birsa Agriculture University (BAU) has set a target to produce about 3,300 quintals of high-quality seeds of various Rabi crops during the next fiscal.
BAU Vice-Chancellor N N Singh, while speaking at the fourth meeting of Rabi Seed Council, said the production of quality seeds would enhance the state's farm output.
Director (Seed and Farm) of the university Rishipal Singh informed that about 11.8 quintals of breeder seeds, 269 quintals of foundation seeds and 492 quintals of certified seeds of Rabi crops were developed by the institute in the current fiscal.
Similarly, the varsity had developed about 25 lakh fry as well as 24,000 fingerlings of gras carp and other species of fishes in its fisheries department during the same period, Mr Singh said.
The university had also set a target to develop about 150 lakh fry in the coming fiscal, he added.
