Tata Steel in K pact with CMI FPE for 6-high reversing cold mill

New Delhi, Nov 7 (UNI) Tata Steel, the country's largest steel company, today said it has signed a contract with CMI FPE Ltd for six-high reversing cold mill which will supply 2,20,000 MTPA of full hard cold rolled coils for making tinplate.

The contract between the companies includes agreement for design, engineering, manufacturing and supply of equipment, and agreement for receiving, handling at site, preservation, erection, testing, start-up, commissioning and demonstration of performance test, it said the a statement.

CMI FPE is scheduled to finish the project within 20 months, a statement said. However, no financial details of the contract were disclosed.

The set up is part of Tinplate Company of India Ltd's (TCIL) second cold rolling mill (CRM) expansion plan.

The TCIL, which in association with Tata Steel aims to double the production capacity of tinplate, has recently started operations of a 2,00,000 MTPA second tinning line and Tata Steel will supply the input through its CRM2 project.
