SC to hear SLP against Rane on Nov 10
Panaji, Nov 7 (UNI) The Supreme Court will hear on November 10 the Special Leave Petition (SLP) filed by Goan NGO Utt Goenkara spokesman and advocate Aires Rodrigues against state Health Minister Vishwajit Rane.
The SLP will be heard by a division bench comprising Justices Altamas Kabir and Markandey Katju.
Mr Rodrigues has challenged the September 23 order of Justice N A Britto of the Bombay High Court rejecting the prayer to allow summons to be issued to Ms Divya Rane in a criminal case filed by him against Mr Rane for allegedly issuing him life threats.
He has stated that since the threating call came from Ms Rane's cell phone, circumstances under which the mobile came in Mr Rane's possession is relevant in the case. Hence, his interrogation was necessary, according to Mr Rodrigues.
The High Court had earlier not held Ms Rane as a material witness.
