Pondy administration to provide free rice

Puducherry,Nov 7(UNI) The Puducherry administration is taking steps to provide free rice to physically handicapped persons through the ration shops, Minister for Civil Supplies M Kandasamy said here today.

Talking to newspersons, Mr Kandasamy said as many as 20,000 handicapped persons are now availing the 15 kg free rice a month through the Anganwadi centres once in three months. Hence, for their convenience, the administration has decided to procure quality rice from the Food Corporation of India directly and supply the rice through ration shops every month, he said.
