NTPC performed better than globally comparable utilities: Survey
New Delhi, Nov 7 (UNI) Apprising that the state-run power utility company National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) has been ranked Asia's number one independent Power Producer by Platts, NTPC CMD R S Sharma today said a survey by North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) has found the performance of the firm better than the units of best utilities globally.
As a member of NERC, NTPC units are compared to clusters of 200-220 megawatt (MW) capacity and 475-525 MW capacity units on parameters on gross capacity factor which is known as Plant Load Factor (PLF) for the previous year, unplanned outage factor (forced outage) for the previous year, availability factor for the previous year and planned outage factor for the last three years.
''Such global comparisons will keep NTPC alerted about the best practices and trends,'' Mr Sharma said while addressing the employees on the occasion of 34th Raising Day of the company.
Platts, a provider of energy information around the world, has also placed NTPC in the list of top 15 energy companies of Asia.
On the occasion, Mr Sharma also released a new home page of NTPC website and a book 'Speaking from the Heart', which is a collection of experiences of NTPC employees, a company statement said here.
