Market Prez and SI nabbed by CBI
Chandigarh, Nov 7 (UNI) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today arrested a sub inspector (SI) of Chandigarh police for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 50,000 here today.
According to CBI sources, the bribe was being paid to SI Sanjeev Sharma for getting a shop vacated and the agency also nabbed Sector-17 market president Subhash Kataria for allegedly acting as a conduit in the deal.
The sources said the CBI had arrested the duo under prevention of corruption act and they were being interrogated.
The shop-owner Arvind Pande had lodged a complaint with the CBI alleging that his tenant shopkeeper was demanding a large amount of money from him to vacate the premises and Kataria and SI were involved in the matter.
The CBI had laid a trap on the two after receiving the complaint and nabbed them red-handed while taking the money, the sources said.
