Maoists attack bridge construction site in Bihar
Sheohar, Nov 7 (UNI) Armed Maoists attacked the site of an under construction bridge and paralysed work by setting ablaze a godown and machineries at Sugiya village here, police today said.
Superintendent of Police Ajay Kumar Mishra said nearly 100 to 150 extremists, including 15 women guerillas, attacked the construction site and took captive a 'munshi' and three assistants late last night. The incident happened under Sheohar police station area.
The rebels broke open the godown and three rooms adjacent to it.
They took out over 200 litres of diesel from the godown and sprayed it around and set it ablaze.
The entire area was up in flames in no time. The ultras also torched machines being used for construction of the bridge and a generator kept there.
Taking advantage of the darkness, the Maoists escaped along the bank of the river Bagmati. Before fleeing, they left some pamphlets.
The SP said additional police force had been rushed to the spot and a manhunt launched.
