CPM seeks thorough probe into army officer's hand in Malegaon blast
New Delhi, Nov 7 (UNI) Expressing grave concern over the alleged involvement of a serving army officer in the September 29 Malegaon bomb blast, which claimed six lives, the CPI(M) today demanded thorough investigation without any prejudice and discrimination.
The government must take stringent action against all terrorists and those linked with them, irrespective of the quarters they emanate from, CPI(M) polit bureau member Sitaram Yechury told the media here.
Lt-Col Srikant Purohit, an army intelligence officer, has been arrested by the Maharasthra Police and a Nashik court has given permission to the Anti-Terrorist Squad(ATS) of the state to subject him to various scientific tests to ascertain his involvement in the blast in the textile town of Maharasthra.
Mr Yechury said the party, in a note submitted to the National Integration Council (NIC), during its recent meeting, had raised the issue of the Malegaon blast and suspected the role of the RSS in it.
Purohit is reportedly the founder of Abhinav Bharat, a saffron outfit, which has been trying to radicalise Hindus to take on ''Jihadi terror''.
