9 handloom clusters accross TN

Thanjavur, Nov 6: The Centre has sanctioned setting up 100 more integrated handloom clusters across the country during the current year, of which, at least nine clusters will be set up in Tamil Nadu, according to Union Minister of State for Textiles E V K S Elangovan.

Talking to newspersons on Wednesday, Nov 5 the minister said the Centre has so far accorded sanction to set up a minimum 271 integrated handloom clusters across the country under the scheme. Of which 30 clusters would be set up in Tamil Nadu, he added.

Mr Elangovan said the Centre had so far sanctioned Rs 5.2 crore for Tamil Nadu for setting the clusters.
