SP delegation meets CEO, fear irregularties in Hardoi by-poll

Lucknow, Nov 6 (UNI) A Samajwadi Party (SP) delegation today met Uttar Pradesh Chief Election Officer (CEO) Anuj Kumar Vishnoi, with apprehensions over the conduct of 'free and fair' by-poll in the Hardoi assembly seat.

The delegation also handed in a memorandum to the CEO, alleging that the fairness in the Hardoi by-poll was not possible as the district administration was showing laxity on the directions of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president and Chief Minister Mayawati.

The SP workers were being harassed and trapped in fake cases in Hardoi, the memorandum added.

The police administration was also threatening the leaders, who quit BSP and joined the SP, it contained.

The EC should look into the matter urgently, the memorandum sought.
