Shinde assures HP of adequate thermal power supply

Shimla, Nov 6 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal has thanked Union Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde for his assurance to protect the interest of Himachal Pradesh in allocation of thermal power from the Ultra Mega Power Projects (UMPPs).

The Chief Minister, who called the Union Minister today, later told mediapersons that he had requested the minister to allot a minimum of 400MW thermal power out of the three UMPPs of Chhatisgarh and Orissa.

The Chief Minister said that the state had been ignored in the power allocation of 32,000MW made by the Union Ministry to eighteen states out of various Thermal Power Projects.

He said that with the increasing industrial activities the demand for power was increasing proportionately and every winter the state had to buy power from other states to fill the gap between demand and supply.

He hoped that the Centre would be sympathetic and considerate towards the genuine demand of the state.
