Red Ribbon Express to enter Haryana on Nov 14
Chandigarh, Nov 6 (UNI) Red Ribbon Express (RRE) train, aimed at raising awareness about prevention of HIV and AIDS, will enter Haryana at Ambala Cantt on November 14 and halt at eight stations in the state till November 27.
Stating this today, Haryana Health Minister Kartar Devi said Haryana AIDS Control Society had made all necessary arrangements to make this project a big success, as part of the national campaign.
The main objective of RRE is to generate awareness about HIV and AIDS related issues and ensure wide dissemination of messages on HIV prevention and means of protecting oneself from getting this infection. The project would mainly focus on rural areas.
She said it would develop an understanding about the disease to reduce stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV and AIDS. The project would also help the people in adopting preventive health habits and life style.
Ms Kartar Devi said that although the project would cover general population, it would focus on youth, women self help groups, adolescents, students of schools and colleges, members of Panchayati Raj Institutions and youth who are not students.
