Mirwaiz, a dozen separatists put under house arrest in Kashmir

Srinagar, Nov 6 (UNI) Chairman of the moderate Hurriyat Conference (HC) Mirwaiz Moulvi Omar Farooq and about a dozen separatist leaders were put under house arrest to prevent them from attending the Jamia Masjid march, a call for which was given by the Coordination Committee, spearheading the present agitation in Kashmir.

An HC spokesman said here today that Mirwaiz Omar remained under house arrest since last morning.

He said a large number of police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel deployed out side the Nigeen residence of Mirwaiz were not allowing him to leave the house.

He was informed that he can not leave his house till further orders since he has been put under house arrest.

The other separatist leaders who were put under house arrest this morning included former HC chairman Moulana Abbas Ansari, Bilal Gani Lone, Aga Syed Hassan Al Mousvi, Javed Ahmed Mir and president of Kashmir Bar Association Mian Abdul Qayoom.

The leaders were scheduled to participate in the Jamia Masjid march today.
