Minister against language discrimination
Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 6 (UNI) Discrimination of languages by giving classical status to some and denying the honour to others would pave the way for unhealthy tendencies, Kerala Education Minister M A Baby warned today.
Delivering the concluding address at a seminar on ''Malayalam language and technical knowledge,'' the Minister said it was not a good thing denying classical status for Malayalam as many other languages had been given the status.
Claiming the government had taken various measures for promotion of Malayalam, he said the challenges faced by the language could be faced only by mass intervention of the society.
Stating that all languages had their own tradition and importance, he said it was because of the ignorance some languages were more famous than the others.
Mr Baby hoped with the use of computers, the younger generation would get more closer to the langauge.
