Line Man dies of electrocution in Poonch

Jammu, Nov 6 (UNI) A Line Man of the Power Development Department (PDD) died of electrocution while working at Mankote in Mendhar area of bordering Poonch district today, official sources said.

The daily wage Line Man, identified as Nissar Khan, 40, was working at the power grid with his colleagues when he had a fall from pole due to electric shock, the sources said.

The incident occurred when electricity transmission was allegedly allowed at 0935 hrs without informing the PDD staff at work.

Khan was immediately shifted to nearby hospital at Mendhar, where the doctors pronounced him dead.

Relatives of the deceased blocked the main road and held protest demonstrations in front of the office of the Sub-Divisional Police Officer. ''Smelling foul play behind the death, they were demanding inquiry into the incident,'' an official told UNI.

Police have initiated inquest proceeding under section 174 Cr PC.
