K'taka demands UPA govt to call for talks on Hogenakal issue

Bangalore, Nov 6 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa today demanded the UPA government in the center to intervene and facilitate talks with the state and Tamil Nadu on contentious Hogenakal water project.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a function here he said the government had already lodged a strong protest with the Centre on this matter.

"Water Resources Minister Basavaraj Bommai today met the Union Secretary for Water Recourses yesterdays to express the State's deep concern over the project," he said.

He said the BJP government would take all parties into confidence before taking the final stand on the issue.
