Cong ridicules Naidu's promises to youth

Hyderabad, Nov 6 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) today ridiculed the promises made by Opposition Telugu Desam Paty (TDP) President N Chandrababu Naidu to the youth during the 'Yuva Garjana' meeting at Guntur saying he was trying to mislead the youth once again.

Addressing the press conference here, PCC President D Srinivas claimed t was astonishing Mr Naidu, who had not cared for welfare of the youth or their employment during his nine-year rule, made several promises to lure them keeping in view the 2009 elections.

Admitting yesterday's TDP's Yuva Garjana meeting had attracted a big crowd, he, however, claimed the gathering had come to watch the family members of TDP Founder-President and Former Chief Minister N T Rama Rao.

He said Actor Balakrishna, during his speech at the meeting, in principle, admitted NTR's family members had decided to rejunevate the party founded by his father, indicating the present TDP, headed by Mr Naidu, was in bad shape.

Mr Srinivas said the Congress Government in the State had accorded highest priority to economic empowerment of youth by initiating a number of programmes since 2004-05.

He said departments such as Rural Development, Urban Development, Youth Welfare and Employment and Training had provided an impetus to the economic empowerment of youth in rural and urban areas.

Alleging the ''so-called BC Party'' had not given importance to the BC leaders of the party during the meeting yesterday, he said the Congress had not only given importance to them but also women.
