BSF denies having specific information on Assam blasts

Shillong, Nov 6 (UNI) The Border Security Force (BSF) today strongly refuted a report which quoted a senior BSF officer as saying that the BSF had prior information of HuJI activists entering Assam for carrying out the recent serial blasts that claimed over 70 lives.

''I have never said that and have been misquoted badly,'' Inspector General of BSF (Assam-Meghalaya) Frontier PK Mishra told UNI here over the phone.

An agency report quoting Mr Mishra said that BSF's Tripura frontier had received prior information on the first week of October that about 20 HuJI cadres were entering Assam through Karimganj sector to carry out the October 30 blasts in the state.

Like the Army and other agencies, Mr Mishra said the BSF also had information of possible attacks but no information about HuJI activists entering Assam from Karimganj to carry out the blasts.

''We informed the state police and we were also alert,'' the IG BSF said, adding the information did not suggest the exact date of attacks.
