London, Nov 5 : A locksmith lodged a complaint against British cops after they ignored four emergency calls and he finally had to drive the thief to the police station.
Mark Ward and a fellow employ were forced to guard the Russian shoplifter for two whole hours, as the cops said they were too busy to take action.
"We're busy. You can let the man go if you like," the police said when Mark gave them the final call.
Ridiculed by the police, Mark of Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, has questioned the negligent behaviour of the police.
"It was ridiculous. What use are the police if they won't even respond to a 999 call?" the Sun quoted Mark, as saying.
"It makes you think the only way is to deal with crime yourself," he added.
However, the cops later apologized to Mark, and blamed a trainee working in the 999-control room.
