African arrested for smuggling in USD worth Rs 20 lakh
New Delhi, Nov 5 (UNI) Customs officials have arrested a Tanzanian national from the IGI Airport here for allegedly smuggling in US Dollars worth Rs 20 lakh.
Haroub Salim Slevoum (44) was arrested yesterday while passing through the 'Green Channel' after his movements aroused suspicion, said Customs officials today.
''His search led to the recovery of USD 42,700, equivalent of Rs 20 lakh, he added.'' Salim had arrived here from Zanzibar via Addis Ababa on an Ethiopian Airways flight.
He was being questioned on the source of the money and purpose of bringing it to India.
