7 Rajasthan HC Additional Judges Made Permanent
New Delhi, Nov 5 (UNI) As many as seven Additional Judges of Rajasthan High Court have been made permanent Judges by President Pratibha Patil, Law and Justice Ministry announced today.
They are: Justices Guman Singh, Bhanwaru Khan Parian, Deo Narayan Thanvi, Raghuvendra Singh Rathore, Mahesh Chandra Sharma, Sangeet Raj Lodha and Munishwar Nath Bhandari.
The announcement said the appointments in that order of seniority will take effect from the day they assume charge of their respective office.
A count three months ago showed five of 40 sanctioned judgeships in the High Court to be vacant.
The Ministry has acknowledged that almost one in three High Court judgeships nationwide is vacant, although the government has acted 'promptly' in processing proposals it gets from Chief Justices.
''Against an approved strength of 886 judges, 620 judges were in position on 30.9.2008,'' a Ministry statement said, adding that left ''266 vacancies to be filled up.'' Arithmetically, that amounts to a vacancy-strength ratio of 1:3.33.
