US, Oz missions get bomb threats over Bali executions

Washington, Nov.4 : The U.S. and Australian embassies in Indonesia received bomb threats today amid a security crackdown ahead of the imminent execution of three Islamists convicted over the Bali bombings.

The Indonesian news site detik.com reported 12 officers had swept the front of the Australian embassy, but did not find anything.

It said Australian officials had told police they would conduct their own internal sweep.

The Australian embassy in Jakarta would not comment, referring questions to DFAT in Canberra.

A US embassy spokesman confirmed that a threat had been received and was being taken seriously. "We are working closely with the Indonesian police,'' he said.

National police spokesman Abubakar Nataprawira said the threat was received through a telephone text message to police.
