Over 2100 pirated movies seized in two shops
Amritsar, Nov 4 (UNI) Police seized over 2100 pirated CDs, MP3s, DVDs and VCDs of Bollywood hits including Dostana, Welcome, Singh is King, Bahram, Kismat Konnection, Hello Brother among others, after raiding two shops at busy city markets today.
On a tip-off from the Indian Music Industry, police conducted raids at a CD Shop in Baba Deep Singh market and another at Jail Road and seized total of 584 MP3 CDs, 1,018 Film DVDs, 342 Film VCDs and 185 Song VCDs.
Police have registered case under section 224/08 and arrested the accused shopowners.
According to IMI, physical format of piracy alone dents a loss of Rs. 600 crores annually to Indian Music Industry.
Music Industry is today witnessing new formats of piracy such a Mobile Chip Piracy which roughly estimates a loss of another Rs. 300 crore, IMI says.
