Kolhapur, Nov 4 (UNI) The officials of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested two employees of social welfare department, including a special officer, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 in Miraj town of Sangli district.
The complainant, Subhash Jamne, who works as clerk in the land record office in Chandgad tehsil of the district, had applied for caste certificate at the social welfare department last year, ACB sources said today.
Special officer, identified as Sunil Nagesh Khamitkar, and his assistant Sachin Gaikwad, who works as computer operator-cum-clerk, asked him to submit the papers once again. Accordingly, Mr Jamne submitted the papers on July three. However, Khamitkat demanded Rs 5,000 as bribe to issue the certificate.
Mr Jamne then registered a complaint against the duo with ACB, whose officers laid a trap and caught the duo red-handed while accepting the bribe amount last night, the sources added.
