KSG's self-imposed 'curfew' evokes poor response in Karaikal
Puducherry, Nov 4 (UNI) The self-imposed 'curfew' stir by Karaikal Struggle Group(KSG) in Karaikal region to press their demands, evoked a poor response here today.
Its demands included separate union territory status and measures to ensure development of the Karaikal region. The KSG called for the 'curfew' and asked people to remain indoors in a symbolic protest.
However, buses and other modes of transport were running normally.
Attendence in educational institutions was normal and government offices functioned as usual. However, some shops remained closed.
With legislators P R Siva, Omalingam and V K Ganapathy supporting other demands of the KSG except the demand for seperate union territory status, several shops in their areas also remained closed.
Meanwhile, the shops in the Nehru market remained closed following a hartal call to condemn the killing of Sri Lankan Tamils.
