Infiltration bid thwarted at border in Jammu sector

Jammu, Nov 4 (UNI) An infiltration bid was foiled by alert troops after nearly two and a half hours of continuous firing from across the Indo-Pak International Border in Jammu Sector in which two jawans of the BSF were wounded, sources here today said.

''Two jawans of the BSF were wounded in the firing from across the border when they opened fire on seeing suspicious movement,'' sources told UNI.

''On noticing movement of armed militants from across the border near Durga Border Outpost in Makwar area last night, the BSF jawans opened fire, which was retaliated, triggering crossfiring in which two jawans sustained injuries,'' they added.

However, the infiltration bid was foiled by the alert troops, sources added.

Infiltration from Pakistan is on the rise in the lead-up to the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, while many attempts are being made by the militants to sneak into Indian territory from bordering belts of the Jammu region.
