Dubai hosts Gazal evening

Dubai, Nov 4 (UNI) An evening of ghazals is being organised here on November six in association with the Indian Council of Cultural Relations.

The stars of the evening would be Anita Singhvi and Farooque Sheikh.

Ms Singhvi would sing the Ghazals and Sufiana Kalam. Her repertoire of Ghazals include all time greats like Ghalib, Ameer Khusro, Faiz, Momin, Meer, Rumi, Shakeel Badayuni, Shamim Jaipuri, Parveen Shakir and a host of other eminent writers. Farooque Sheikh would transport the audience into a world of Shayari.

Recipient of several awards, Ms Singhvi is an exceptionally gifted Ghazal and Sufi singer. She commenced her musical career under the guidance of Pandit Kshir Sagar of Gwalior Gharana.

A trained Hindustani classicial singer, she pursued Visharad course at Bhat Khande Sangeet Institute, New Delhi. She has had guidance from Mujahid Hussain Khan Saheb of Rampur Seswan Gharana, Shanti Hiranand, Anjali Banerjee and Begum Muner Khatoon of Allahabad.

Farooque Shaikh, Indian film and television actor, who made his debut some 32-years-ago in the M S Sathyu-directed classic Garam Hawa, followed by an immensely successful romantic film, Noorie has created a niche for himself in TV more as a comedian.
