UK Muslim chef sues Met over pork cooking request

London, Nov.3 : A Muslim chef is suing police chiefs after being asked to cook pork sausages and bacon for officers' breakfasts. Hasan Ali Khoja, 60, has accused the Metropolitan Police of religious discrimination for refusing to guarantee he would not have to handle the meat. The Sun quoted Khoja as claiming that he was put on paid leave for a year after refusing to prepare fry-ups and was upset when it was suggested he wear gloves when dealing with pork. "It is not permissible in my religion," Khoja said. He joined the Met in 2005 as catering manager at Hendon Police College, North London. He was then moved to a team where he was expected to cook breakfast. The Met is fighting his claim.
