Two die in road accident in south Bihar

Banka, Nov 03 (UNI) Two youths were killed on the spot after they were run over by a speeding vehicle near their village at Baikitta, near here today.

Police said the mishap occurred when the two were returning home after purchasing some materials for the ongoing Chhath festival when a car hit them from behind at high speed,killing both on the spot.

Soon local people gathered on the spot and intercepted the fleeing car.They also beat up the driver before handing him over to the police.A case had also been lodged in the local police station, police added.

Later, the people set up a blockade on the Banka-Amarpur state highway demanding compensation to the families of the deceased.

However, the blockade was lifted following the intervention of senior district officials.
